Makes me wonder

I'm not very familiar with the "who leaked the identity"story. I do know that it comes down to a journalists right to protect their sources. I would like to say that if I'm ever in a situation like that, a.) I wouldn't give a protected person's name, especially if their job is to protect the American people, like me and b.) I would still be able to protect any source when this is over and done with. Makes me wonder with the one, maybe soon to be two, vacant seats in the Supreme Court that maybe there will be an opportunity to protect integrity. I wouldn't reveal my source, period. I wouldn't use my source to destroy the credibility of someone who must have annonymity, either, well unless that person wasn't doing their job right. Again, I stress, I'm not very familiar with the story. That's my bad.

Right, so I'm not familiar with the story about Matt Cooper and Judith Miller. I know they are behind a story that leaked the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Miller is in jail as I write this while Cooper walked a free man away because Time Magazine handed over his notes anyway and he says he will comply anyway, since his source now says it's OK. Conveniant.

Oh, and let me be sure to add how Cooper stresses that he's still keeping his word with his source...

Still, it's awfully conveniant that Matt Cooper's source gives him permission to reveal his name when he's facing jail time. How nice of that unnamed man!
