Vacation gone wrong

I've been reporting all morning long about the two men arrested in connection with the disappearance of Natalie Holloway, 18. She is from the same area I work in, the Birmingham-area. She graduated from one of the richest schools in the metro-area, surrounded by some of the most expensive homes you've ever seen. The Mountain Brook community is literally in a bubble of safety. It's like a web sealing off the town from the rest of the world. Maybe the worst thing that happens there is your neighbor runs over your cat with the lawn mower.

naivete is the word for this neighborhood.

I've been reporting about how she left a bar at 1:30 am and got into a car with whom she thought was a Deutsche national. She thought she was only leaving her crew of classmates and seven parents at the bar with this one man. She was actually leaving with three. Natalee was never seen again. Only a student asked her not to go.

Adult supervision was obviously in Mountain Brook form that evening.

Now what I haven't been reporting was that she allegedly had sex with all three of these men she left with. I haven't been reporting that Natalee may have been kidnapped. Natalee may be in some other area of Venezuela by now, or out of the country.

It's highly likely at this point that Natalee is not a live or in hell. Hell being slave traded for a million dollars. Don't you think that Natalee's family hasn't disclosed the full amount of the reward money for some reason? And, before you scream, yes I know it's $55,000 but it's only estimated. Makes sense. For her family's sake and Natalee's sanity, I'd rather her be swimming with Jimmy Hoffa and Ray Gricar before they find out she's under lock and key for thirty men a day.

Look at the facts, that's all we have: Natalee "boyfriend" wasn't a Deutsche national but a heavy drug-dealer. All three men allege to having sex with the teenager. The two men arrested were security guards at a nearby hotel, one of the also a drug-dealer. Sex-trading can happen in a country like that - despite what you hear about murder and rape statistics. There is also another missing persons case in the area. Why would you hear more about one case than the other unless the media knew something more was involved?

I've been browsing some blogs and doing my newscasts this morning, all of them about Natalee, and all I can say is why are we so naive?
