Dan Rather: Learning Impaired

Dan Rather is finally leaving the nightly news, however, he still thinks he is capable of being a correspondent on both editions of CBS’s “60 Minutes”. What would prove idiocy for Rather, CBS and Leslie Moonves, is will actually a good thing for conservatives. He will only continue his “hard news investigative” reports that Americans know as so credible. While the immediate response is “good riddance”, the thoughtful response should be, “What a great Thanksgiving gift! Dan Rather will continue to enlighten us on the liberals’ agenda!”

It was only time before Rather would face reality and step down from is nightly post. He had apologized for his actions, only to blame them on other people’s ability to check sources. Which reminds me, Rather: did you ever get a second source for your National Guard story? One man with forged documents doesn’t equal two sources in any area of “hard news,” but Dan Rather obviously has his own definition. At a conference following the announcement, it was said that no questions were going to be taken because they had “news” to cover. It was also said that, “no matter what you hear elsewhere, this was a mutual decision.” Translation, “Yeah, we know he isn’t really a reporter but three people still tune into him so we’ve talked him into being a correspondent on 60 minutes to save some ratings.”

CBS should have canned Dan awhile ago when he made so many failed attempts at “hard news investigations”. However, we can only remember that Rather’s comments prove that America sees him as entertainment. In a CBS Evening Newscast in July of 1994, Dan Rather reported, “"The Republicans are finally getting what they wanted. The House Banking Committee opened hearings today on Whitewater and the Clinton administration. What the Republicans are not getting is an opportunity to ask many of the questions they wanted to ask--questions that could embarrass the president.” During former President George H.W. Bush’s term, Rather embarrassed CBS again by seeing how many different ways he could ask the president if he or the late President Ronald Reagan were directly involved in the Iran-Contra affairs. Dan Rather is also responsible for telling us that people died in Vietnam (June 2, 1988 CBS special The Wall Within). Also showing how “unbiased” he was as a “hard news investigator,” when the Washington Post revealed Dan Rather was raising money for the Democratic party of Texas. The list goes on and on. No wonder this man has won numerous Emmy’s!

Sixty million people proved on November 2, 2004 that not only did they want George W. Bush as their president; they also proved that obscene, ludicrous ideas from Dan Rather are wanted! And not just for entertainment, but for insight into the agenda of left-wing, liberal commies. Instead of bringing “hard news” to light, he actually showed to millions of people just how embarrassing it would be to have someone on his side in office. Don’t worry faithful fans of Dan! The same media pool that says a Marine should not have killed an insurgent says that Rather’s retirement is being overshadowed by the “Memogate” scandal… (Well, duh!) This only means his “legacy will go on!” and CBS, as well as NBC, ABC, & etc. will continue to be just entertainment.
