Enough! You're Shoving the Holiday's Down My Throat!

Oh yeah, it's that time again. Ribbons, wrapping paper, long lines, the loud lady with the crying baby who knocks your buggy miraculously on every aisle you find yourself on. With all of the hustle, bustle and traffic, it's hard to remember what the "Holiday" season is really about. However it is very simple: Jesus Christ was born of a virgin mother, we are celebrating His birth since He gave us the ultimate sacrifice.

Amazingly in 2,000 years, people and not just Americans, have been able to make Christmas spell holiday. It's not just for a two week hectic office party schedule anymore either. "Holiday" begins in August for those who want to make sure their thousands of dollars of "holiday" gift-spending is done at a pace. It's spelled C-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s. The word Christ is in there. Not holiday. Somehow, people have been able to celebrate Independence Day, take off for Labor Day and skip right to Christmas. What happened to the days where the Christmas season began on the Friday after Thanksgiving? (Dear God, my resolution this year is to save all of my vacation time for holiday shopping. Please help me to keep this resolution. I promise I'll do my part; as soon as sober up from the eggnog.)

The answer is Political Correctness has taken over.

It's sickening to see the people who proudly proclaim their distaste for the Christian belief so quickly take part in a "holiday" that is about Christ. In fact, so many people have begun to feel "left out" that now Christians are bearing the responsibility of letting those who choose not to believe in Jesus Christ participate in His birthday. My guess is these are the same idiots who say that Christianity is infringing upon their constitutional right to NOT have a silent moment (which was so prayer wouldn't be shoved down their throats) that are saying that the have a constitutional right to attend a birthday party. Here's my next question: Do they not know who's birthday it is?

Answer: No.

Today Christmas has lost the sparkle it once had. It's been replaced with the "magic" that unbelievers say makes the season a holiday. This is because Christians have allowed athiests, agnostics, and followers of other religions to walk over them. In doing so, the true meaning of Christmas has been lost to Santa Claus, eight tiny reindeer and commercials saying, "Happy Honda Days". It's time for Christians to take a good look at this problem because ignoring it is like saying Michael Moore can be a converted conservative. It's never going to happen unless those who celebrate the true Christmas season for their Savior stand up and say, "Back off! My holiday! My Christmas!" The biggest problem is the political correctness; that we are hurting the freedom of religion by pointing out the fact that Buddhists have a statue and athiests don't even get December 25th off from work since they don't believe in Christ. Wake up! The freedome of religion the pilgrims brought us here for is already hurting.

Since it is Christ's birthday and He did die for us, what do you think He would want for Christmas? I doubt it would be a "holiday season". Be merry, enjoy fellowship with friend and kin, and remember that December 25th is honoring the birth of a man who gave His life for you.
