Fact or Fiction

If you are having Christmas issues like me...here is a fact or fiction link based on Dickens' stories.

And here may be my favorite winner for what the hell? award: About.com's Holiday Stress Survival Tips.

Ward off stress with exercise and good nutrition

Lucy Gilles-Khouri, Director of Dean/St. Mary's Healthworks at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, says, "The holidays can play havoc with our health. In winter we tend to crave fats and sweets, but ironically, the more fat and sugar we eat, the less energy we have, and the more stressed and run down we feel."

Would be nice if I had time to work out during the holidays but I'm actually doing my shopping, cleaning my house and doing my job. I'm so busy that I have to do to jobs literally at once.

  • Rest. Try to get eight hours of sleep each day.
  • Get a massage. A massage can be beneficial for the mind and body.

  • Ha! I average 5-6 hours of sleep a night and I can't afford a massage! I'm saving my money for presents!

Walk your way to less stress

Exercise is another important stress reducer---particularly during the winter, when many people aren't as active as they are during other times of the year.

I'm pretty damn active fighting off those people who think I'm out to get their gift idea when I'm actually trying to find where my husband went off to now! Don't forget that malls are getting bigger! That means I'm walking more! Carrying gifts + walking must equal the exercise stressed in this article!

I'm just poking fun at this - I get the holiday blues myself so it makes me feel better to jab at the idiocy of what is simple to say but harder to do; Thank you medical professionals....The article does offer some links to get real help if you have the holiday blues as many people do get so visit the link if you think you have a problem, please.
